Would you like to become a billionaire?"

Introduction

‘Would you like to be a millionaire?’ is one of the questions that one might ask when he/she meets someone who holds such a big and impressive amount of money in his or her hands. The people who ask this question are mostly interested in how such a person can make use of his money, how they can own so much, and what would their income be.

According to some people, money is something that should never be used for greed, but rather used to help those in need, and it has several benefits. Asking about a million dollars is considered as being an act of generosity; therefore the question of asking about a million dollars can be described as “a very expensive gesture” as compared to other things asked (Kolb, 1998).

However, asking for a million dollars is not enough, there is more to having a million than just being wealthy. Having been a victim of unemployment, poverty, and many other forms of deprivation, I now have to look at the world around me and my role as a human being, and how can such wealth be achieved. With this paper, the aim would be to discuss on the possibility of becoming a billionaire using an example of how I was once poor.

Body

To better understand the topic of discussion, let us consider an instance from our lives; we were once poor. It is true to say that most of the times when we talk about the life we led before are quite depressing. We had no money. We lived in a small town, did jobs to keep ourselves fed. When we spoke about anything; we only got money to buy whatever we wanted. No matter what job we tried and what kind of car we bought; we had to take care of its expenses. We could hardly afford even a single meal or let alone to eat. Life seemed terrible. Then, along came a man named Jim Kolb, who was ready to change the situation. He said a question that most of us would never dare to ask. How can one become a billionaire using a million dollar?

Jim Kolb is an American businessman with over 20 Million dollars, and this is what made him the face of thousands of Americans. At first; his question raised the minds of me and a lot more. His simple question caught me by surprise “Would you like to become a millionaire?” I asked myself why should I want to achieve such a great amount of wealth and fame and become so famous for it that people will come up with stories about how a person with such a large amount of wealth won’t be able to do any serious work? Yes, money doesn’t always mean happiness. According to Karl Polanyi, if one has too much money, then he will lose meaning in life. In this case, it seems that a person with a lot of money is likely to feel lonely and unhappy.
I started thinking about the question that I had asked after a long time, and how the mind is playing tricks on itself to get things, even in my very own house. Would you like to become a billionaire if you have all that money? If that were to happen, everyone would think that you wouldn’t enjoy your personal life the way you usually would like to. This is something that nobody likes because in order to live successful, it is important to share your ideas with others. So, if you don’t share your ideas with others; then your success will be limited. To avoid this problem I thought of living a simple life. I started working hard without expecting results. I still struggle with lack of confidence and this also plays a role in the making of the most important decision as far as a person’s life is concerned.
Conclusion

The question ‘Would you like to be a millionaire?’ can be answered with the help of facts and figures. Even though most of the time people would hate the idea; there is nothing wrong when one asks for what he really wants. Asking for a million dollars is much more rewarding than asking the sky about something else. Asking about a million dollars gives a chance of doing something different and new and helps a person to go deeper into his/her thoughts. Thus, the question of wanting to become a billionaire through having millions of dollars is justified; one becomes more independent, self-confident, and happy.
